One of the most rewarding, self-enriching workshops I have attended! This CREATE CAMP is highly recommended for everyone. Whether you’re a weary mom, a tired corporate warrior, someone looking for new inspiration, fresh ideas, tired of the daily grind, or simply wants fresh air, this camp is for you! The workshops, set in the middle of Body Food Academy’s forest (I will call it a forest just because it has so many plants I am not familiar with :)), is a definite pick-me-upper and a soothe for the soul. In my case, I was a tired mompreneur who felt that I was taking care of everyone but myself. I needed a break, but I wanted that break to be productive. Teacher Ana won’t believe me when I say I wanted to complete all five days.
For Day 1 of CREATE CAMP, we learned how to make our own virgin coconut oil (VCO). From raw ingredients, to hand pressing, to harvesting. We also learned the different ways of harvesting VCO and which is the healthiest way to have cold-pressed VCO. We made our own tinctures and infusions which we can use as base for so many creations that we would like to make for the family.
Happily brought home my very own cold pressed VCO, and several tinctures and infusions of:
- Extra virgin olive oil with lavender infusion that can be used as massage oil. I made this because I loooooove massages. And I have always wanted to make my own massage oil. I cringe at the thought of synthetic carrier oils, usually petroleum oils, being used all over my body. And chances are, the massage therapist don’t even know what they are using, and how much harm it is causing to our tired bodies!
- VCO with infusion of freshly picked Tagetes Patula (Marigold flowers) that can be used as first aid for burns. I made this for the whole family.
- VCO with infusion of dried ginger and elemi (from Pili tree) for muscle pains. This was made with my significant half in mind. His chosen sports bring him a lot of pain. So there, my way of helping him recover :). He’s not crazy about the smell of ginger, but I’m hoping this infusion would smell more of elemi than ginger when it’s ready to use.
- And tincture of neem plus citronella that we can use as insect repellent, room spray, and hand sanitizer. This one, is simply a MUST HAVE in a tropical household like ours!
Because every picture tells a story, sharing some photos to give you a peek of our exciting day during Day 1 of Create Camp.
