Note: Really late post 🙂 Wrote this last May 10, 2016. But posting it only today.
Bed!!! Finally!!! Before we sleep tonight, we would like to give our deepest and most heartfelt THANK YOU to all the brands, companies, speakers, facilitators, friends, family, customers, suppliers, service providers, brand partners, venue partners, media partners, and everyone in H&G team, who made this event possible!!! We can feel our legs tingling from tiredness as we lie down. Our two kids asleep as soon as their heads hit the bed. But we can’t go to sleep without expressing how thankful we are for everyone’s trust and support! We remember what one of our mentors kept on saying – “You’ll never get where you are, without people helping you.” And this is very true for this event. A LOT of people helped us. We are truly grateful for everyone’s help, support, and trust.
When we were sending out invitations and curating the merchants of Hunt&Gather, we also received many applications of brands who heard about the event, but not aligned with our thrusts. We had to turn down so many, including a few huge brands who could give us sponsorship money. As startup entrepreneurs, one side of us were thinking how much we can do with the money. You know – marketing, building awareness, buying stuff we need as a start-up, so many things! But accepting everyone and just anyone into @huntandgatherph just because of money is not being true to what we really want to achieve for us and for the people around us. So we turned down these major brands, turned down many merchants applications who are not aligned with #HuntAndGatherPh’s thrust, and like a suitor wooing love – pursued all the products and brands we wanted to be in H&G.
Never mind if we’re not full in terms of booth spaces, never mind if our pockets and wallets were not heavy and thick. Not compromising our integrity feels GOOD.
After we came back from our stint as expats from West Africa – we ventured into entrepreneurship. We started in bazaars (being merchants). And this made us highly sensitive to the needs of our merchants.
Yesterday and today, we kept on walking the floors. Asking how everyone’s doing. We wanted every single one to do really well in many fronts – sales, awareness, exposure, creating new markets, creating network, useful contacts, establishing individual brands, etc. When we ask “how are you doing, or how did you do today” and you answer “we’re ok,” we KNOW what that means.
We learned a lot of things this weekend that we will improve for the next events! We have a loooooong list! Our vision is to be one of the biggest nutrition and fitness events in the whole SE Asia. Bring our local healthy products to nationwide and international stages. Help more start-ups. Create jobs. Have healthier communities. #HuntAndGatherPh will be stronger, better, bigger.
THANK YOU EVERYONE for this awesome weekend!
